Job Description


Responsible for creating graphics such as logos, diagrams, infographics, fact sheets, foldouts, covers, page headers, posters and other promotional materials for proposals and site visits. Works with customers from all levels of government to develop communications materials using knowledge of commonly used practices, and procedures.


* Provides excellent customer service when interacting with people from all levels of government.

* Completes actions independently and makes recommendations based on the nature of the assignment.  

* Consults and coordinates with customers to define support requirements such as deadlines and schedules during the proposal process to ensure effective organization of the project.  

* Provides conceptual development and art direction for the design of proposals.

* Translates technical and scientific information into visual imagery that is easily understood.

*Stays abreast of new announcements or other proposal requests in order to create templates that ensure compliance.  

* Attends team meetings as needed to determine strategy, report progress/concerns, and general exchange of information through the proposal production process.   

* Provides version and quality control from draft to final.  

* Manages style guidelines in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.

* Participates actively in development and maintenance of information-sharing systems to support communication efforts and facilitate information retention and accessibility.

*Prepares documents for file conversion for review such as: pdf, jpeg, tiff, png and ppt.

* Performs final proofreading and quality checks on all documents and presentations. 

* Educates and coaches engineering/scientific writers on win strategies and win themes associated with the development, importance, and purpose of graphics to effectively produce a winning proposal. 

* Provides assistance/surge support to the Technical Information Management Services Branch (TIMS) in the areas of graphic design.

* Acquires, develops and maintains complete documentation for all projects.  

* Performs other duties as assigned. 






* Maintains a superior knowledge of design, typography, publication layout while remaining knowledgeable about current and forthcoming design applications and related industry developments.

* Familiarity with creating graphics utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite applications 
(including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge and Acrobat).  

 Experience utilizing pdf exchange of comments and corrections to actively coordinate revisions.  

* Creative professional with high-energy, must be detail-oriented team player. 

* Ability to work diligently and concisely in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment. 

* Possess excellent organizational skills, strong problem-solving ability and a solid work ethic.

* Possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

* Experience developing proposal text graphics, covers, logos, CD labels, fact sheets, foldouts, brochures, quad charts, schedules w/milestones, posters.

* Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Macintosh Operating Systems with special emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel.

* Must possess excellent oral, written and visual communication skills.

* Must maintain outstanding customer service skills.

* Long hours and weekends will be expected during high volume workloads.


* Five to seven years experience in a fast-paced design environment. 
* Prior proposal work experience is a plus.


* Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or related field or comparable work experience
