Threat Assistant I **INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY**

Job Description

Under minimal supervision, works with Threat Electronic, Mechanical, and Fabrication Specialists on the operation, maintenance, and fabrication of target systems.  Targets include; remote controlled systems, foreign ground combat vehicles, and steel targets in support of military testing and training operations.  Uses hand tools in minor repairs and fabrication under the guidance of senior personnel.  Operates material handling equipment (forklift) up to 20,000 pound capacity.  Works as part of a team and performs daily functions as part of a crew with direction and guidance from senior personnel.  Will be required to document work completion through the use of checklists, which will be randomly inspected as part of the quality control process. Works in both shop and field locations not limited to Yuma Proving Ground ranges.  May be required to travel and conducts operations in offsite locations up to 30% of the time, including remaining at travel locations up to three weeks at a time.  Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications

Rate of Pay: $20.71

Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:

* Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
* Must be able to obtain a Class B or higher CDL within six months of hire.

Job Skills Requirements: 


* Must have basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
* Must be able to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
* Must have at least one year of experience with electronic troubleshooting and repair OR metal fabrication OR operation and repair of heavy equipment.
* Must be able to travel for off-site duties up to 30% of time and remain at travel location for up to 3 weeks at a time.
* Must be able to accurately and entirely complete daily equipment logs and electronic time sheets.
* Must be able to use two-way radios, email, and cellular phones for communications.
* Must be able to comfortably enter and exit foreign target vehicles including T-72, BMP MTLB, and 2S3.

Physical Requirements:

* Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.
* Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
* Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
* Must be able to work long and varied hours.
* Must be capable of frequent bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, standing, climbing, and stooping, sometimes for long periods.
* Must be able to ascend and descend equipment.
* Must be able to visually distinguish colors.
* Must be capable of lifting and transporting 75 lbs. unassisted over uneven ground for 50 feet.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:


* Possess a Class A CDL.
* Have formal education or training in electronics, mechanical, or welding fabrication
* Possess operational knowledge of small unmanned aircraft systems (S-UAS)
* Possess an FAA part 107 Certification
* Possess prior operations experience with tactical vehicles – tracked or wheeled

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements:

* Must be a U.S. Citizen and not hold multiple citizenships.
* Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.
