The Custodian’s main responsibility is to perform general cleaning duties in designated working areas and buildings. The tasks involved in removing debris and keeping areas neat and tidy may be broken down into several duties performed throughout the day or at other regular intervals. The Custodian will work in a safe and organized manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
Sweeps, mops or scrubs, and polishes floors
Removes chips, trash, and other refuse
Dusts equipment, furniture, or fixtures
Polishes metal fixtures or trimmings
Provides supplies and minor maintenance services
Cleans lavatories, showers, and restrooms
Vacuums and buffs floors
Empties trash receptacles and replace lining of trash cans
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent
Three years of successful experience in custodial services
Demonstrated experience in working on a schedule as directed
Must demonstrate strong verbal communication skills
Must possess problem-solving skills
Must demonstrate organizational skills in completing a task
Must share a commitment to maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment as well as in the outside environments.
Must be able to move throughout assigned areas, as work is performed indoors and out-of-doors
Must be able to bend, twist, and squat multiple times a day and/or climb ladders
Must be able to lift 65 pounds unassisted
