Job Description

Entry to mid-level level position (based on education and experience) to support the development of digital media format solutions based on industry and DoD standards, develop software to perform test and evaluation on these standards, and support ongoing modernization activities focused on the implementation of a next generation media format within the Geospatial-Intelligence (GEOINT) Enterprise Community. Helps develop digital media specifications that meet the Government’s GEOINT system architecture requirements. Establishes and documents media encodings, formats, and protocols. Defines structural, sensor, exploitation, and analysis metadata fields and relationships. Identifies and defines efficient mechanisms for encoding, processing, and storing still imagery, motion imagery, metadata, and audio content. Provides guidance and recommendations for transitioning existing systems and capabilities to a modern, industry compliant architecture that is efficient and effective.

 

Qualifications

* Design, write, build, and test software libraries and applications.
* Perform detailed engineering calculations.
* Develop and implement advanced algorithms to perform functions related to filtering, control, tracking, estimation, and interpolation.
* Implement hardware and software interfaces on instrumentation systems.
* Develop software in a collaborative environment.
* Work well in a collaborative team environment.
* Generate professional documentation.
* Generate project reporting documentation.
* Give presentations to a technical audience.
* Follow and implement TRAX quality processes, SOPs, and work instruction.
* Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics from an accredited institution, with a curriculum focused in one or more of the areas of digital media, digital imaging, digital signal processing, computer vision, AI/ML, optics, and metadata.
* Proficiency with software engineering in C/C++.

* Strong math skills.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Highly developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is a top priority.

* Must share a commitment to maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment while simultaneously optimizing individual performance and contribution.

* Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

* Masters or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Mathematics from an accredited institution.
* Strong programming skills with experience in C/C++, Java, Python, network, web, and cloud programming.
* Familiarity with DoD/IC/NSG GEOINT applications, use cases and mission support activities.
* Direct knowledge and familiarity with current DoD still imagery, motion imagery, image compression, and metadata standards.
* Familiarity with current Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) digital media industry standards for encoding, protocols, and formats, including ISO Base Media File Format and High Efficiency Image File Format.
* The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment, with occasional work at remote test range locations.
* Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
* Must be able to view computer monitor for extended periods of time.
* Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted.
* Must be able to support occasional travel (25% or less).

* Must be a U.S. Citizen and not hold multiple citizenships.
* Must possess a security clearance prior to employment and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance for the duration of employment.
