Carpenter (Fabrication Specialist Carpenter I)

Job Description
Performs a variety of construction fabrication functions for the purpose of supporting military hardware testing and training operations including targets, mock villages, and test fixtures using products commonly used in the construction trades. Performs setup of target systems and target arrays under the direction of senior section personnel. Works as part of a team with guidance and direction from senior section personnel to fabricate target systems, target arrays, and training sites. Communicates with fellow employees and senior section personnel for daily task requirements. Understands and follows all safety guidelines as defined in current SOP’s and regulations. Navigates KOFA and Cibola ranges in accordance with P-1000 and applicable range SOPs. Assists with operation of all direct fire target system currently used in the section. Completes daily work order log entries. Assists with fabrication and repair to all target systems used in the section. Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Qualifications
Pay Rate: $20.71/hour

Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience-Requirements:

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be forklift certified.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years journeyman level experience in carpentry OR 2 year’s journeyman level experience and 3 years technical experience in direct fire target systems at YPG.

Job Skills Requirements:

• Must be able to assist in fabrication of new design concepts to enhance capabilities (such as relocatable for safety fan restrictions, no dig permit requirement) of target system requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.
• Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
• Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Must meet the physical requirements necessary to perform operations outlined, performed, and stated in the SOPs for General Support Service.
• Must be capable of lifting 100 lbs. chest high unassisted repeatedly during the duty day.
• Must be able to lift and transport 100 lbs. unassisted over uneven ground for 50 ft.
• Must be able to ascend and descend equipment.
• Must be tolerant of frequent weapons systems firings.

• Must be familiar with KOFA and Cibola ranges and be able to navigate in accordance with P-1000 and applicable range SOPs.
• Must be able to maintain own tools to the minimum required by the company.
• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions.
• Must have dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

• Possess a Class A CDL.

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and not hold multiple citizenships.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.
• Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
