Job Description and Duties:

Manages the development of an effective environmental and health safety program to include developing written safety procedures as needed and revising existing procedures to reflect regulatory and work practice changes. Prepares job safety analyses for routine work assignments and provides safety input to all levels of operations. Ensures safety training is adequate, timely, and well presented. Ensures proper implementation of OSHA regulations. Oversees environmental regulations to include Satellite Accumulation Points (SAPS); MSDS control for materials; and any handling and personal protection requirements for hazardous materials. Manages contractor and subcontractor employees who are performing the safety and environmental services function. Develops the capabilities of the EH&S staff and ensures new knowledge is acquired for the rapid change in skill set required of the position. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Must possess sound analytical and problem solving skills. Must possess the aptitude to accept challenges and confront risks while taking a proactive approach to safety as a whole. Must possess good administrative and team skills. This position reports directly to the Program Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in safety management, safety engineering, environmental services, industrial hygiene, occupational environment health and safety, or related fields.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) training and current certification is preferred.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of environmental and occupational health and safety, along with an established track record of success may be considered as a substitute for the educational requirements.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of state, federal and OHSA regulations.
  • Must have demonstrated computer skills, including a proficiency in using common word processing software, spreadsheet software, database applications, project and presentation software, and email, contract management and scheduling software. selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
